This time, in an episode of Rick and Morty .

As you may recall, I’m looking for more examples of this unique car-trying-to-start !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Not an easy thing to search for. Can’t do much more than sit in front of the boob tube and wait. And sure enough, it randomly happened to catch my ear again, prompting me to hit the rewind button during a viewing of Rick and Morty to confirm.

In Season 2's Mortynight Run , listen closely around the 09:20 mark. As Morty attempts to liberate the gaseous entity known as “Fart” by driving him away in Rick’s -er- “ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ”, the engine hesitates to start. (This could be an early sign of microverse battery failure, culminating a few episodes later in The Ricks Must Be Crazy .)

Sure enough, they used the same sound file. I know there’s more out there...

Find any more examples to add to the list? SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT

I know it’s opposite of what you are searching for but San Francisco RUSH for N64 had a dead engine sound when you crashed out.

On topic: from the YouTube

Did anyone ever figure out what car’s starter it is?

Holy crap, I think you’re onto something there. I feel like I’ve heard that exact same recording elsewhere, outside the context of that game.

Not yet. I’m dying to know the answer.

I heard it in a stuff you should know podcast, and it made me think of the game.

I’ve just now become aware that there’s a Wilhelm of children’s laughter and a car crash one too. Have you noticed that?

Huh, now that you mention it, I think I’ve heard the crash one. Does it start out with a long tire squeal?

EDIT: Is it this one? It really does sound familiar.

God that does sound familiar. I’m talking about this sound, I picked up that it’s in both Driver the game and Driver the movie (which aren’t actually related in any way and were made 2 decades apart):

You’ve got to listen closely and it’s played twice since he makes 2 collisions with the wall in the game. But it’s the same sound with that weird high pitched ringing at the end.

And this from Diddy Kong Racing as well as everything else ever
